Verena Lauer

Verena Lauer, LOPO Co-leader Verena Lauer started playing violin at the age of nine and has studied with Benny Jonsson, Claus Hartmann and later, at University in Germany, Marie Louise Jauch. Her current teacher at Royal Holloway is Alexandra Wood. After being leader of the orchestra at the music school in Lüneburg for several years she became a member of the Regional Young Symphony Orchestra and the Young Symphony Orchestra Hannover. She is still going back to Germany to play with the latter on various occasions including the annual open air concert held by the Chopin Society each summer.

She has also played on international orchestra camps in France and Germany and at Stamford International Music Festival in summer 2005 with various chamber music groups two of which were also selected to participate in a masterclass with Wayman Chin. At present she is part of the String and Chamber Orchestra at Royal Holloway and the University of London Symphony Orchestra.

Verena is currently preparing for auditions at conservatoires back in Germany. However, she has been offered a place at Goldsmith College London to do her MMus in Performance and related studies after she is graduating form Royal Holloway this summer. She is also playing the piano as second instrument and has performed on smaller recitals at her former University in Germany.
